To me Sacred Fitness is about recognizing the true beauty of every single human body, and to transcend beyond it to embrace the power of the spirit that resides within. I it is also about creating an awesome life for yourself, beginning with a happy healthy body in which to live and love.
I am here doing this work so that you can begin to ask yourself better questions when it comes to your fitness path so you can determine what Sacred Fitness means to you. I ask powerful questions through my coaching to facilitate the answer that exists within the individual.
As an Englishman, a man, a personal trainer ( which is quite the macho industry still ) and growing up in place where if you used the word love you were likely to get a punch in the nose, I found it challenging at times. But I cannot care what others think, or I will limit the love that I can share in the world. At 6’3″ I am unlikely to get a punch in the nose, but I am prepared for all the criticism that might come my way from various corners. But, I expect love, and that is what I focus on.
Too many of us learned that we will only be loved when we look a certain way. When our butt or our pecs look a certain shape. It takes a reprogramming of the subconscious mind to begin loving and accepting our body right now. If we do not begin to feel love and appreciation now, we won’t feel it in the future. If your body has to look a certain way before you love it, you may wait for a long time. As you begin to love and appreciate yourself more each day, your actions in the world will reflect that.
To me, Sacred Fitness is about exercising on a higher vibration. Instead of seeing it as punishment for gaining weight, or “No pain, no gain”, it is a journey of self love, self transcendence, and appreciation for the gift that we have all been blessed with. Look what love does to the molecules of water in this video, and remember that your body is made to a large extent of water.
Instead of looking in the mirror at all the things that you do not love about yourself, begin to focus on the parts of your body that you love, and appreciate them. From this place of higher vibration, you are now armed to speak to the places where love is missing within your consciousness. That part of your body that you hate, is it really ugly? Or have you labelled it as such to prevent yourself from embracing a deeper truth, and your personal power? Have you bought into a societal belief? Are you willing to challenge it?
Now, look at that body part that you hate. Tell it “I love you”. Tell it “I am grateful for you.” Repeat this many times, day after day until it starts to feel more real. Your head may want to refute it, but you are beginning to imagine a new you, a you that loves yourself. And, if you say it with feeling, you will begin vibrating at a new level every time you begin a workout.
So when you are getting ready for your workout, and changing, speak words of love to yourself and your body. It sounds like fluff to a lot of people, but if all you have ever done is hated yourself for a lifetime, this can begin a transition into your power, and embracing the gift that your body is.
What part of your body is calling for more love from you?
I will be leading a group of Victoria, BC participants through activities that will empower them to exercise from a higher vibration. Be sure to check out the write-up for the event, and contact me to reserve your spot.
