Lessons From Others

When The Body Says No

Great lessons can be learned from looking at those who have suffered in ways that we do not wish to. My mission is to offer guidance to those wishing to pursue a balance of material and spiritual success in life by taking proactive approach to wellness. To take steps to minimise the risk of health conditions occurring. Others suffering and the lessons they learned may serve as a gift to you and your loved ones.

Gabor Mate, author of “When the Body Says No” has worked with palliative care patients and addicts in Vancouver for a long time now and he has noticed relationships between the type of disease people are presenting with and certain personality traits.

Interestingly some of these traits are the same ones that I see in people who are a lot younger. It may be extra body fat now, but what will it be in 30 years time?

Putting others first all the time, and suppressing feelings and emotions that they didn’t like to feel, were prominent mentions.

What traits do you not like in your parents? These could be the very traits you possess that you dislike in yourself and that may play quite an active role in your health and fitness.

“Oooh, ugly”

We can learn from this work of Dr Mate.  We can take steps now to prevent some of this by making stands for our health now. That extra body fat you may be carrying that you feel so much shame about could actually be hiding a deeper shame or hurt.

Emotions that have been suppressed can be allowed to the surface and befriended before they cause havoc.

Everyone of us has shadow energies. Those ugly parts about ourselves that we love to project onto other people.  The ones we really don’t want to own in ourselves. Anger, greed, depression, sadness, guilt, shame. We are also love, peace, joy, and gratitude, all the ones we want to be known for. We are whole and complete and thrive by accepting it all.

People often interpret the Law of Attraction teachings as meaning that we cannot be honest with the negative thoughts and feelings we have. That unless we are feeling good, we are less than. It is so much easier to pretend they are not there. In accepting our negative thoughts we reduce their power over us.

Sure, we create a vision for the future and hold the energy of what we want, but there is great healing in acknowledging those shadow behaviours, when they surface, before they exact greater pains upon your physical body and so that we can actually vibrate at the same energy as our vision.

It’s My Shadow

Me, I was highly dependent on a mother growing up, and at the same time rebelled against control that I thought she wielded over me ( which was only me belief ) , never believing that I could have what I wanted. I must have been difficult to get along with.

I stored explosive anger deep within me as a result of physical trauma in my life, that was part of my personal struggle with weight ( and has caused more pain in relationships than I care to share at this time), caused digestive issues and even structural issues within my joints. No science to prove this, but I am in touch with my body and when the energy moves, I feel it.

I am not done with those energies. And will I ever be? God only knows. What is important is that I am truly honest with what arises in each and every moment. That I accept them for whatever they are.

A Way Out

Every one of us has these shadow energies.  Through prayer, meditation, action and surrender we can befriend these energies and learn the powerful lessons that they possess.

Will you continue to walk around projecting them onto others, or will you take the responsibility for them, accept them, learn from them, and increase your chances of  living a healthy life into your later years?

You will also watch the body fat shedding as you realize that despite these energies, that you are whole and complete and deserve to have fantastic health and wellbeing!

This is a small fraction of the information that will be covered in the full day long event that I have coming up on May 29th 2010, in Victoria, BC. See the link below to find out more and sign up today! Change your thoughts, feelings and actions and you change your body. Through insights, stories, group activities and individual exercises you will be taken on a day of inner exploration to create fitness from the inside out.
