You can choose to be happy now. This last week had really been a great test for me and those close to me. Layers of grief have been shed, and it has been shed to create space for joy and it is because I am making the choice to feel happiness that these feelings release. Shedding the tears offers relief to a heart that seeks happiness.
I have been supported greatly through this transition, when the noise of my ego consumed my mind, the stillness of meditation and those in my life, help connect me to the joy that is ours any time we want. I have allowed myself to feel the sadness, release the tears, and as a result tapped into a new level of happiness.
Many times in life I have made choices be unhappy because the circumstances I was in were not not great. And even when circumstances were great, my ego still wanted to make me feel undeserving of that happiness. So it really has nothing to do with circumstances.
As I write this I am listening to the Beach Boys watching some young ladies on the street bursting into spontaneous dance and smiling. A great way to feel joy in the moment and the Beach Boys will always do that.
Get up and dance where you are right now. If you hear voices in your head telling you how dumb this, then you need to do it even more! That is your ego telling you that you don’t deserve happiness even when it shows up as a thought such as “That looks dumb”.
My situation at this time is not ideal, but the choice to be happy is mine to make. I know every time I feel sadness that it will pass.
It is the same with our bodies. Are you choosing to be unhappy because you have those extra pounds to lose? Are you choosing to be unhappy because you did not achieve a goal you set out to do? The programming from the world media has a lot to answer for in this respect, making people think that they will be happy when they look a certain way. But we don’t have to buy into it.
This is the importance of self-acceptance. Accepting where we are at right now elevates our level of happiness. It is saying that we will not feel the shame about the way we look. We will not buy into the guilt of eating that second cookie. Buying into those feelings sets us up for struggle.
The dance that I mentioned earlier will take you to a place of happiness instantly, if you allow it, and if you do it long enough, your body will respond to the joy of the movement. Physiological state changes like that have a direct effect on our emotional state. If you haven’t done that dance, do it now!
When you exercise, do you choose exercises that punish you or ones that make you feel joyful? Is it inspired exercise or exercise you “should” do based upon some book you read. Our spirit seeks to experience more joy. What movement will bring you joy today? Can you allow yourself to play?
Choose thoughts that make you happy. Choose exercises that make you feel happy, and challenge you. And if you feel the sadness, allow yourself to shed the tears of pain, for behind this waterfall lies untapped happiness.
Enjoy your body now!

“I was immediately impressed by Matthew’s insight and intuition. Within minutes he had uncovered the real work I needed to do beyond the symptomatic concerns I presented with. With immense care and listening, Matthew guided me through even my deepest fears and limitations. Each week I noticed how improved my life and business became. After 10 sessions, I had the mad thought that maybe I could not afford to continue investing in myself with this work immediately realised that I could not afford NOT to continue my journey with Matthew as it was benefiting my life and business so much! I have referred others to Matthew and they too are blown away his the gentle yet powerful work. I pray that you give yourself the same beautiful experience - you will be amazed!”
