Deepak Reinvents The Body

I had the privilege of attending a Deepak Chopra event in Vancouver this last weekend. This man is one prolific writer and speaker on the subject of health and wellbeing. I recommend …..mmmmmm…….every one of his books.

From the very beginning he jumped into some of the great scientific breakthroughs that have come to the world in the last few years. The work of Candace Pert who demonstrated the mind body connection and that emotions are not simply chemicals in the brain, they are electrochemical signals that affect the chemistry and electricity of every cell in the body. That was a big breakthrough. The many breakthroughs in the field of quantum phsyics. Entanglement, which demonstrates that electrons separated by vast distances that were once connected are activated at the very same moment, not after any set time period. Awesome stuff!

His latest book “Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul” is probably my favourite of his books to date. Probably because it aligns so much with the principles of Sacred Fitness. He speaks of breakthroughs in understanding that lead to breakthroughs in emotional health and soul health.

In a nutshell, here are the breakthroughs for reinventing the body:

#1 – Your Physical Body is a Fiction – his main premise being that the nonphysical aspect of life is stronger than the physical. Your body is the junction between the visible and invisible worlds.

#2 – Your Real Body Is Energy – You’ve heard this one from me often enough. The tiniest change in energy, can lead to massive physical disruptions. It also makes adventures in fitness truly joyful. Knowing that it is all about working with energy.

#3 - Awareness Has Magic – There is reflection ( taking a look at old habits, beliefs, and assumpyions ) , Contemplation                  ( focusing on a thought or image until expands as far as it can) and Meditation ( finding the level of the mind that isn’t conditioned).

#4 - You Can Improve Your Genes – We are not victims of the genes that we picked up from our parents. Our genes can be changed, they are no more physical than any other parts of our body. Most of us with a western education have been programmed from a young age to believe that our genes do govern our existence and so there is usually a little debugging to do on this. It profoundly affects physical fitness when it is grasped at the subconscious level.

#5 -Time Isn’t Your Enemy – I loved the chapter where he covers this. All too often when it comes to fitness I hear about aging being something that people are afraid of. They think time is working against them and they physiologically respond to this in their body. Begin to change your beliefs about aging, and watch how your body responds. Gregg Braden says that there is no scientific reason why we cannot live until we are 200 years young, and I believe him.

 

These are just the breakthroughs when it comes to our body. He also covers 5 breakthroughs when it comes to the soul. Just as enlightening, a must read book. Here is the link to it……..

The one that I have just finished reading, that Deepak co-authored with Debbie Ford and Marianne Williamson, also covers some fantastic information about the gift hidden behind our shadow energies. At the weekend Deepak described the motto of the shadow as “I am the part of you that will embarass you if you don’t listen to me.”
